Dramatic evening and smokey-eye looks aside, most of the time, what I’m after when I’m doing my daily makeup is a better, groomed version of myself. Something that looks like I’ve made an effort but really, I want you to think I’m naturally as beautiful as the makeup has made me. Effectively, I want to look like the luxury, high-end version of the gal that fell out of bed that morning.

Enter the new Bronze & Glow Collection from Daniel Sandler: two new Watercolour Liquid Blush shades and the most importantly, the Watercolour Creme-Rouge Blusher in Soft Bronze from makeup artist and maestro Daniel Sandler. Regular readers will know I’ve long been a huge fan of Daniel Sandler’s makeup (catch up on other Daniel Sandler posts here); he knows what women really want in terms of makeup and there’s not a product in his range that doesn’t do exactly what he says (and more – I’ve always found most of his products make great multi-taskers). The Watercolour Liquid Blush are different from anything else on the market (he was the first to offer such lightweight, sheer formulations, long before it became ‘the thing’), so if you haven’t tried them yet, you’re in for a treat, especially with the two new shades launching very soon.

A bit like Orangina, you have to shake the bottle as this magical formula is a watery liquid with pigments suspended within, so shaking it up fuses everything nicely. One drop really is enough to add colour to each both cheeks (a little goes a very long way); it’s easily applied with fingertips or with Daniel’s angled Brush (another great multi-tasker), blends easily and makes your skin look like it’s glowing from within. And of course, you can build up the intensity if you need to by adding an extra drop or two.

Rose Glow is the perfect baby pinky-peach with just hint of shimmer. It adds just the right glow to winter skin and it’s going to look gorgeous on tanned skin too. Golden Glow does exactly what the name suggests; skin is radiant and glows with health and vitality. I’ve been going for less of a matte look this Spring, so these are perfect applied straight over a liquid foundation; the lightweight formula allows them to blend super-easily and my skin shows through, not my my makeup. Of course, you could powder over them if you fancy a more matte look, but quite frankly, these look so good as they are, why would you?

It would be hard to pick a favourite from the Bronze & Glow Collection, (a bit like choosing a favourite child?), but if I had to, the Watercolour Creme-Rouge Blusher in Soft Bronze would be it. It’s a cream blush formulation, but that doesn’t really do it justice. It melts on contact with the skin, blends so beautifully with fingers and gives a long-lasting wash of colour and the most beautiful sheen that stays where you put it – no slipping off the face after a long hard day. I’ve been using it as a delicate highlight on my cheekbones and it literally takes years off me, giving me  seriously Expensive-Looking Skin.

I’ve been layering all three, and the effect is stunning –  if you follow me on Twitter, you’ll have seen my tweets about the number of compliments I’ve been getting about my skin and it’s all down to this trio. I can’t recommend them enough. And they multi-task too – the Watercolour Liquid Blush make great natural looking lip colours and the Creme-Rouge Blusher makes a very pretty eye shade and lip shade too!

The new shades launch on April 2nd but there are 16 shades of Watercolour Liquid Blush to choose from (I’m almost embarrassed to tell you my collection now has seven shades!).

Now almost cult, nay, iconic, you can buy Daniel’s products in Urban Retreat, but the new shades will be exclusively available from danielsandler.com – I’d advise getting over there quick before they sell out!
