LET THE PARTY SEASON BEGIN!

My daughter’s first words to me this morning were a very excited “It’s Christmas!”

Now, as I write this, it’s the first of November and there are still around 54 sleeps to Christmas, but I get where she’s coming from (full disclosure: she’s been playing Christmas songs for the past fortnight, but let’s not go there!)

While there are still over seven weeks till the big day, there’s no getting away from the fact that the party season gets well and truly into full swing the minute November comes around. Whether it’s work events, parties, dinners or family get-togethers, this is definitely the busiest time of the year in our calendars.

All the extra late nights, rich foods, drinking and general fun are bound to take a toll on your body and skin, so it makes sense to organise and prep yourself ahead of time. Here are a few of the things I’ve been doing with this in mind.

SKINCARE

I’ve recently had a couple of Mesotherapy treatments with Vaishaly at the Vaishaly Clinic in London’s Marylebone (which you’ll have seen in a couple of my recent videos on YouTube) and my skin has never looked or felt better. Brighter, smoother, more even toned, plumper and softer, her talented hands have worked their magic on my skin and it’s reaping the benefits.

In Vaishaly’s words: “This has been one of my best discoveries for a less invasive aesthetics treatment. Like any treatment the best results are produced by the aesthetician’s knowledge of the serums to be mixed to produce the best results for the individual client and their skin needs. The results are instant. The brightening, even skin tone, firmness, plumpness, hydration and lifting effect is on another level. Skin looks extremely fresh and bright.

Pigmentation, redness, dullness, dark circles, wrinkles and fine lines are greatly diminished after one session and carry-on improving days after. Your skin looks filtered like you’re wearing a base of foundation. Every clients reaction has been “WOW” and every client says “this is how my skin used to look!”

This is why, this is such a great treatment before any big event, pre-party, wedding, photo shoot or red carpet etc.

The difference with the way I do it, is I use the ‘Nappage’ technique, so I’m not actually injecting. It’s pain free for the client. I go over the whole face, neck and under the eyes, then I scan the skin for any imperfections and go over it again, this is what takes the results on to another level.  I literally can see the skin changing in front of my eyes as I go over the areas. Clients are addicted.”

I can honestly say I’ve hardly felt the need to wear foundation since and it’s a treatment I would definitely schedule into my diary on a monthly basis. I love that it’s non-invasive, yet gives me the skin of my dreams!

I’ve also been using retinol products again over the past few months (I don’t use it over the summer) and that’s really been helping too. I’ve been loving the Bio-Retinol +C Booster Serum from Evolve Beauty layered under either their new Nightly Renew Facial Cream (both very affordable) or the Super A Retinol Sleep Cream from LivingM – formulated specifically for pre and menopausal skin.

HAIRCARE

Nothing hugely earth shattering here; I’ve just been super-diligent with my weekly hair masking alternating with hair oiling. I’ll use any variety of masks, but the one I always come back to is the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer and the hair oil I’ve been loving is the Hairssential Hair Treatment Oil, both of which I use pre-wash (but not together).

Other than that, regular trims have kept my hair looking thicker and fuller, whilst regular use of hair supplements have helped my hair grow beyond my wildest dreams.

PARTY OUTFITS

If you’ve been watching my videos on YouTube, you’ll know that I’ve been (and still am) on a major decluttering journey. I’ve given more than five bin bags busting full of clothes to charity and over 200 pieces to a preloved site to sell for me and what do you know! My wardrobe actually feels fuller, I feel like I have more clothes and pieces that I’d forgotten about have come to the fore. I’m actually loving opening up my cupboard doors again, instead of the familiar dread of looking at stuffed shelves, drawers and hanging rails full of clothes I no longer want to wear.

So instead of buying new clothes for the party season, I’m shopping my own wardrobe and will only be using any accessories as and when.

AND THE REST…

Of course, there’s a whole load more that also needs to be done, from dusting down the tree and decorations from the garage, to ordering food and buying presents, but all that in good time.

How are you prepping for the upcoming festive season? I’d love to know – tell me in the comments section below
