HOW TO SHOP THE SALES – 5 TOP TIPS

Shopping for clothes during a sale can be a great way to save money and add to your wardrobe. Here are my top 5 tips to help you make the most of the sales:

Set a budget: It’s easy to get carried away when shopping in the sales, so it’s important to set a budget before you start shopping. This will help you to stay focused and avoid overspending.

Make a list: Think about what you need and make a list of items that you are looking for. This will help you to stay focused and avoid buying things that you don’t really need. When my favourite sweater was ruined in the wash (think shrunk down to doll-sized proportions!) I kept an eye out for it and kept it on my wishlist to repurchase. Many months later, in the December sales I spied it as a great discount and snapped it up before my size sold out.

Shop early: If you want to get the best deals, or if you have a particular size/style in mind, it’s a good idea to shop early. Many stores will have the best deals at the start of the sale, and popular items are likely to sell out quickly. For example, I have very small feet, so as soon as the sales start, if my size has gone into the sale, I’m on it!

Check the returns policy: Sales items are often ‘final sale’, which means that you cannot return them. Be sure to check the return policy before you make a purchase, especially if you are buying something that you have not tried on. Especially true for online shopping, although it has to be said, online stores are generally quite good at taking returns even on sale items.

Don’t be swayed by discounts: Just because something is on sale doesn’t mean that it’s a good deal. Be sure to compare prices and only buy items that you really love and will get good use out of.

By following these tips, you can make the most of the sales and find great deals on clothes that you’ll love.
