We’re currently going through Lockdown 3 (if you’re in the UK) and I don’t know about you, but my motivation and sense of self are at an all-time low. I don’t think there’s ever been a time such as this when it’s important to give yourself a little me-time. Sometimes it’s just the little things that can make all the difference; just a small act of self-care and kindness every day can stop you from losing yourself.
I think for me it’s a case of not having my normal routine, however manic that can be sometimes: dropping the children to school, going to the gym, coming home to shower, change and get ready for my working day etc. Working from home is normal for me, so that’s not the issue here, but with everyone “working” from home, including my husband on constant zoom meetings (out loud!!!) and the children doing their online lessons and homework means that I have no control over my routine, (or at least it feels that way), and so I’ve let many things fall by the wayside… the little things that I used to do without even thinking about them, that I took for granted and now, without them, I realise that I just feel a little bit lost.
I got to talking to a few friends about this and about how I’m fed up feeling this way, and it seems I’m not the only one to feel this way – no surprise there. So I decided to set myself a little challenge for the month of February, just to do a little something just for me every day. Nothing big, no huge time or efforts commitments here, just a little gesture every day to help me refocus on my as me, not just as a mother, teacher, 24-hour cook, cleaner… you get the picture 🙂
So I’ve created a little 28 Day challenge checklist to help me stay on track and keep me accountable to making some time for me every day.
I’ll be checking in every day on Instagram (follow me HERE) with what I’m doing that day, and I’d love for you to join me if you’re feeling even slightly the way I’m feeling. Even if you’re actually in a great place right now, a little extra self-care can never go amiss, am I right?
You can download it (free) by clicking on this link HERE, so that you can also follow along if you fancy. Mix it up, change what you want to, do as little or as much as you want t0; the idea is just to get a little self-care in every single day, whatever that looks like for you.
See you over on my instagram on Monday for the first day of what should be a lovely 28 days ahead of us.
