Illamasqua has long been the darling of beauty bloggers and make-up aficionados but I really think their latest collection is going to appeal to a much bigger and far-reaching audience.
Named Generation Q, Illamasqua has brought shimmer and shine into very wearable formulas. Aimed at the more mature woman (or man!) who might otherwise shy away from shiny, over-shimmery, laden with glitter formulas, this is what they call “permissible shimmer”. No unsightly glitter particles escaping down your face, and making you look like some overgrown 6-year old playing with her mother’s make-up. But really, anyone at all can use it and love it.
This is elegant shimmer, in wearable colours in the divine formulas that we’ve come to love from Illamasqua.
I wore the Empower palette throughout my holiday, it had the perfect pink, the perfect skin-coloured shimmer and the perfect iridescent blue-green for beachside dinners. I literally felt like a mermaid!
The palette is made up of three pressed powder shadows and one cream shadow that is great for the crease and as a liner. There’s Blink, a bone-coloured base shade, Synth, a subtly shimmering pink, Fervent, a deep-reddish-brown shot through with blue shimmer and the cream shadow, the Liquid Metal in Sick is a deep teal blue-grey.
