Every so often, I like to give my nails a little detox. A day or two free of nail varnish gives them space to breathe and recoup from the onslaught of being covered up. Dr LeWinns Renunail is perfect for some extra TLC when they’re seriously stressed out but for a proper holiday from the nail polish, there’s nothing like leaving them bare. But I still want them to look groomed – what to do?
I recently discovered the joys of Emoji’s Micronail, an electronic buffer and shiner and I love it! Back in the day, I used to buff and shine up my nails manually with one of those four-sided buffer/shiner blocks but things have moved on and how! It’s super gentle so there’s no danger of over-buffing or over-thinning your nails – something I live in dread of. Super fast too, so fast that it literally takes no more than a minute to do both hands and that includes the time it takes to switch from the buffer to the shiner.
I love the the fact that the results are customisable to how you feel your nails are feeling or what they need at any given time. The kit comes with everything you need, including the batteries (don’t you just hate it when agedness don’t come with batteries!). You simply pop the ridge remover on the end, flick the switch and buff away. 30 seconds later, you’re ready to shine, so switch the roller for the white smoothing one, and 30 second later, you’ll have a hand full of shiny, smooth, glossy nails – it literally looks like you’re wearing a clear top coat! The results are so fast and effective that I even treated my husband to a mini manicure and he’s loving the groomed look it gives his hands (obviously less shine for him than for me!). And if it can deal with buffing away the ridges in his nails, that’s saying something!
My nails are not in bad shape at the moment in any case, as you can see in the ‘before’ photo, but the shine you can see in the ‘after’ picture is really impressive – I might even be tempted to leave my nails bare for another day!
I’ve always loved the naturally beautiful look, be it for the face with the ‘no makeup makeup‘ look or the perfect but natural nails, so this little gadget is a godsend! Now I just need to keep it away from my nail-obsessed little girls who are eyeing it up as I write….!

This looks great. I hate my bare nails so always tend to have them painted which makes them worse. May have to treat myself
