Can I start the year in February?

It’s been exactly a month since my world was turned upside down but as I wrote in my last post (click here) you have to carry on, and so I shall.

As I’ve missed out on posting in January (except for this one post here), I’m treating February as my January and setting my New Year goals a month late. I’m taking a good hard look at my blog and what want to include, what I want to get rid of and what new things I want to introduce.

I’ve been slowly getting back into it, posting on Instagram, (click here) but up until now, I haven’t really posted much in the way way of beauty – just the odd post here and there. Oddly enough, it’s been more in the way of daily outfit posts, which is weird as that’s not really something I’ve focussed that much on before.

I was pondering just now on why that might be, and I think it’s almost my subconscious way of making sure I get up and dressed. Those of you who’ve been with me for a while will remember that I did a lipstick challenge – wearing a different lipstick everyday for a year – yes, 365 days. What you may not know is that at around the same time, a few weeks into the challenge,  I lost my father. Sometimes, getting up out of bed, putting on the lipstick and taking a pic for the gram was the only I managed to achieve on certain days, but, looking back on it now, at least I achieved something. It may only be lipstick but it gave me a reason to get out of bed and actually DO something. So, although its not been a conscious decision in anyway, perhaps taking a daily photo has been my coping mechanism – a reason to get dressed for the day and not just wallow in my dressing gown (as lush as my dressing gown is; I swear I could live in it!)

I’ve know I’ve asked you all on Instagram what you’d like to see more of here on the blog and on my YouTube channel and, yes, I’m asking here too – I’m fully aware just because you’re following me here on the blog it doesn’t mean that you’re necessarily following me on on Insta (or even on YouTube for that matter). I was going to get all serious and put together a little survey, and I might still do that if that’s easier for you guys to answer, but in the meantime, I thought it would be much easier to ask you to simply put down your requests, opinions and even your criticism on what you don’t want to see in terms of content from me. After all, if you’re not interested, then who am I writing or filming for?

So, please, leave me your comments below – the good, the bad and the ugly. I’ve got my new diary at the ready to take notes!

I hereby grant you permission to start your new year in February. Or March. Or, whenever you feel ready to. Losing your mother is such a major event and my heart goes out to you. The internet will always be there. Take all of the time you need, darling.

    xoxo – Kelly

Aw thank you Kelly, you’re a sweetheart! Taking it one day at a time, not putting too much pressure on myself, but using the blog and YouTube almost as a welcome distraction.
