These days, there’s really not much I need to buy in the way of makeup. If I’m really honest (and what’s a blog for if not for total honesty and coming clean), I not only have doubles of just about everything, I have triples and quadruples… oh heck, let’s just say multiples! But sadly that doesn’t stop me buying makeup, oh no! If it’s beautiful or limited edition, and quite often both, it’s irresistible, and I’ll be flexing that credit faster than you can say “sold out”.
The recent capsule collection from Estée Lauder in collaboration with Victoria Beckham is a perfect example. I mean, it’s Estée Lauder and Victoria Beckham, all wrapped up in one sentence. Irresistible isn’t even the word. “Must-have” doesn’t even come close. How could I not? It’s once of my favourite makeup (and skincare) brands coming up with a capsule collection of beautifully created makeup, curated by one of the most iconic and intriguing women of recent years.
I know I’m more than a little late writing about the collection – I’ve probably spent far too long ooh-ing and aah-ing over the the beautiful packaging to be as quick as I ought to have been – so you’ve probably read just about everything there is to say about it and may even already have some of it in your makeup collection.
But with makeup this beautiful, I just had to showcase it here. As you can probably tell by the sheer number of photographs, I’m totally in love with the packaging and I pleased to say the product inside doesn’t disappoint. The eyeshadows apply beautifully, blend out like a dream and can be worn sheer or ooomph-ed up for nighttime glamour. The bronzer and highlighter are gorgeous to apply and wear, and the Morning Aura Illuminating Creme (now sold out) is the perfect replacement for the Dior version that sadly was discontinued.
Do you need it? Well, if you ask me, that’s a silly question. How many of us actually need more makeup? I’m sure you have shades that come close to the eyeshadows, lipsticks, highlighter and bronzer already in your collection (or is that just me?), but there’s no getting away from the fact that this is some of the sexiest packaging to have been launched this year. It’s full-on glamour, revved to the max. Heavy, substantial, fluted cases, gold wherever possible, deliciously comforting clicks to close lids, it all looks beautiful and will luxe-up any dressing table and makeup bag.

It’s almost like the makeup equivalent of the capsule wardrobe – you know you’ll wear everything and you know it will always perform to make you look your best. The carefully chosen nude and red lipstick aren’t anything earth-shatteringly new, but somehow the shades seem to work on all skin tones – the nude (shade name Brazilian Nude) has actually become my staple nude and the Red Lipstick (shade name Chilean Sunset) has just the right touch of a corally-orange to perk up my face, and I know looks amazing on blondes too. The Bronzer in Java Sun is very subtle and delicate on my skintone in terms of a bronzer, but does a great job of “perfecting” my skin. The Highlighter in Modern Mercury is now a staple in my makeup bag – it’s just the right tone of rose-gold that adds sheen, not shimmer ( I love it buffed in as an eyeshadow too when I’m keeping things minimal).
Not that I needed the Eye Kajal Pencil, but I have to say, the nude shade (to line the waterline) is the most perfect colour.
Of course, you’re probably staring at that gorgeous eyeshadow palette – it really is a lovely selection of shades that complement each other beautifully and I’ve been wearing the neutral browns on repeat. I’ll be taking just this with me on an upcoming trip to Paris and I’m looking forward to getting creative with the more dramatic blue and green.
Of course, I had to try one or two (or three!) of the single eyeshadow shades too, but of all the collection, I think these I could have passed on, as I did the Eye Foil – I couldn’t see myself ever using that.

Of course, everything is kinda pricey – just to give you and idea, the bronzer is an eye-watering £48, the Eyeshadow Palette and Morning Aura £68 each, so it’s worth really thinking about what gaps you have in your makeup bag before you invest.
But in spite of that, I bet you can’t resist a little something either!
