So one of my key things for 2106 is to actually do things for me. As I type this, it’s only 10pm and I’m sitting in bed, having come back from a lovely massage. Now, there’s a sentence I never thought I’d be in apposition to write!
I actually can’t remember the last time I made time for me, just me, not me with my family, not me with my friends, just me, myself and I. So when an unexpected free evening came up, with babysitting already sorted, there I was, busy trying to find out if any of my friends were free for an impromptu movie night at the cinema. Not too many takers at short notice, but one dear friend did suggest booking in for a massage. It’s not something I would ever have thought of, and quite frankly, going out in the freezing cold (it’s -2* outside tonight) wasn’t too appealing, but I didn’t want to waste the babysitting, so a quick phone call and I was booked in.
I’m now home, smelling gorgeous all over, totally relaxed and ready to go to bed for a really good night’s sleep. I don’t know why I didn’t do this before but I know one thing. I’ll definitely be going back. It was wasn’t anywhere fancy, just a local massage spa that also offers a free sauna as part of the massage experience (I might take them up on that next time) and it was just what I needed. My masseur, Christina, had the strongest hands I’ve encountered, and although it was a little tender at times (recent gym sessions to blame for tight muscles), I know I nodded off at least couple of times.
I’m so glad I made the effort to go and that’s one thing I can tick off my 2016 goals list – yay!
Now it’s time to pull the duvet up around my ears and head off to the land of nod…….
