The new year and all its promises of new beginnings normally come in to focus for me around halfway through January. With a birthday exactly one week into the New Year, I never even think about starting a diet until after that’s over and done with – who wants to be dieting and detoxing on their birthday? This year I was hit with a bad cold which really threw me for 6 (a quaint little English/cricketing term that basically means I was taken out of action) so yesterday was the day I really started with all my good intentions.
This year, I’ve not make any resolutions; rather, I’ve identified some goals and I’ll be working towards them. I think I’ll find it easier to have a goal in mind, an aim or objective I’m trying to achieve, rather than just ‘resolving’ to do something without an end goal in sight.
All the usual suspects are there; getting to a certain level of fitness, a certain body fat percentage, work goals, personal and family goals so I won’t bore you with them. But what I see as a common thread throughout them all is this: this year I’m making more time for me, and less time running around doing useless or unproductive things that lead to nowhere. I aim to be more efficient with my time – is it just me or does time go faster as each year goes by? I swear 2015 was a few months short of the full complement.
So whatever your resolutions or goals are for 2016 (or even if you didn’t make any at all), here’s wishing you all a fabulous year full of the things YOU want for you. And don’t be surprised if you see a blog post or two, and even a video on my channel, about my fave bits of 2015… as they say, better late than never!
ps – let me know what you’re aiming for this year in the comments below – I’d love to hear!
Oooh and what do you think of my new diary? Now I have no excuse not to be organised! You can find it here
