Drink Yourself Beautiful

I’m a true believer in the old adage “you are what you eat” so I couldn’t resist trying out these Beauty & Go Bioactive Beauty Drinks when out shopping in Puerto Banus (Marbella) whilst there on holiday. The gorgeous colours are what drew me in at first and the promise of Vitality, Radiance, Detox and Anti-Aging all a mere sip away was just too good to pass up on.

The main ingredients in each are:

Vitality includes mandarin, gingko biloba and guarana, with a hint of mango that you can definitely taste, herbal extracts and a touch of green tea;

Radiance includes red grape, aloe vera, collagen (although I’m not sure how much of the collagen is actually absorbed into the blood stream), and extracts of cherry and radish;

Detox includes pineapple, spirulina (the two strongest flavours), artichoke, herbal extracts including spinach, dandelion, nettle and chamomile and orange fibre;

Anti-Aging includes pomegranate, citrulline and hyaluronic acid, along with a touch of raspberry and hibiscus.

While they’re pleasant enough for sipping away, I can’t really comment on the effects on the skin as I’ve only glugged my way through one bottle of each. What is interesting to note is that they each contain macro-antioxidants – a patented form of bioactive molecules found in the skin of fruits that last longer in the body than regular antioxidants – and my mother always told me to eat the fruit’s skin as that’s where all the goodness lies.

At an average of only 50 calories per bottle, they’re low on sugar and gluten-free (although if you’re eating clean and don’t want any sweetener, these aren’t for you, as they contain sucralose, but I guess something has to give). I love the way each drink pours out literally the same colour as its bottle, and they all taste great. My least favourite would be the Radiance one, which tastes a little too like cherryade for my liking, but really I wouldn’t say no to any of the four flavours.

I have a feeling these aren’t yet available in the UK, but in Spain I picked them up in El Corte Ingles. I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for their arrival in England.
