You might have seen this photo on my instagram account (go follow me there if you’re not – I’m on there as @beautypassionista) and it got me thinking – this pic features some of favourite Spring bits, so I thought I’d put together a little post about a couple of my Spring closet updates.
First off, the shoes – aaaah, are these just perfection or what? I’m not going to go into too much detail here as there’s a whole post coming on them tomorrow, so make sure to check back.
I was never a “pink” kinda gal… as I was growing up, I was about as far away from being a girlie girl as you could get. I know, surprising, right? But I find as I get older that certain shades of pink are extremely flattering to my skin tone and this coat has just got it right. Bought in Paris on my girls weekend away (click here) to see what we got up to), this Patricia Pepe dust pink mohair coat is more an elongated jacket than a winter coat, (the perfect length for my petite frame), but it’s warm enough for the unpredictable British weather. It smartens up just about every outfit and takes a plain pair of jeans from school run to lunch with the girls. The simple clean neckline makes me feel oh-so grown up and elegant and frames my face perfectly. The hidden-away buttons keep the look as clean and minimal as possible. But as you can see, I can’t do the lowest button up.
Which brings me to the second half of this post. Slowly but surely, I’ve put on a bit of weight – more than I care to admit to. Granted, two bad injuries last year got in the way of my workout routine and regime, but there’s no excuse for the lack of discipline when it comes to eating. This year started with such good intentions, but the increase in workload and then an awful flu virus that had me on antibiotics and in bed for two weeks all got in the way. So many different excuses, but none of them good enough reasons for where I find myself now.
I really don’t believe in cutting out food groups just for the sake of it (unless there’s a medical reason such as a proven intolerance or allergy), not least because I don’t want my children to develop an unhealthy attitude to food and nutrition, but now I’ve come to the stage where I just have to take drastic measures. So here’s what I propose to do.
I’m going to cut out carbs after breakfast – I’ll still have my yoghurt with muesli for breakfast, but after that, I’m a carb-free zone. I’ll fill myself up with veggies, salads and lean protein. Not rocket science, is it, so in theory it should be easy to follow. A good side effect is that the children will also end up eating more veggies too!
And my goal? Well, with a short holiday coming up soon, I’m aiming to lose a healthy 1 kg per week in the next month or so. Eating healthily, portion control (the hardest thing for me to do!) and four workouts a week and I should get there. So, in theory, I should be at my target weight in around 10 weeks or so.
Dammit! Did I just give it away? Well, yes, I guess I did. So there it is. Today it starts – my journey to shed an unwanted and unneeded 10kg starts here. Wish me luck!
