Budget Buy: KIKO Generation Next

Each and every season, KIKO just brings it and this new collection is no exception!

Generation Next is KIKO’s latest offering and as I said, it doesn’t disappoint. On trend colours, formulas and finishes, all with the trademark KIKO sass, from wet-look eyeshadows in futuristic colours to super-soft and super-pigmented eyeliners, lip crayons to hi-shine lip glosses, there’s really something here for everyone.

My fave standout item from the collection was a bit of surprise to me; when I first looked at the Mosaic Highlighter in 01 Future Light, I didn’t think I’d be able to wear it at all; I was convinced it would look chalky on my skin. In fact, I was even trying to think who I could gift it to! But I’m so glad I gave it a go – it may well turn out to be my favourite highlighter of the season. It’s the perfect peachy-gold sheen, subtle enough to be worn all over for that J-Lo-esque glow but strong enough to accentuate the cheekbones and other high point on the face and add a hint of glimmer to the collarbones and shoulders come the warmer months. The lilac and green accents mean it’s fabulous for colour-correcting too! It’s one that will definitely be coming with me on holiday this year – the inclusion of the ample mirror means that it will really earn its place in my make-up bag.

Ever on the hunt for a perfect nude lippie, my other favourite is the confusingly named Frosted Look Lipstick Lip Crayon which is not frosted at all, rather it’s a satin matte that’s pleasingly comfortable on the lips; I’d say it’s akin to a matte balm texture. Rosetta 02 is a warm mauve-ish pinkish nude that looks great worn on its own and even better with a lipliner (my favourite pairing is MAC Whirl or Chantecaille Tone). And I love the way it’s chiselled to allow easy lip shaping. Layered under the Glassy Lipgloss in Shade 06, this is the perfect Spring appropriate lip – bright enough but super wearable and every so girlie.

The Cool Touch Eyeshadow really is cooling on the skin and you can literally feel the water content as you apply. 05 Source Platinum is a white-ish silver with an edge of barely visible green that’s perfect for adding a futuristic flash to the eye. Pair it with the striking green of Crystal Eyeliner in 04 Advanced Grass (perhaps the weirdest named eyeliner I’ve ever come across?) or for a more monochromatic look, the steely greyness of 06 Sharp Graphite for a striking eye combo.

Are you a big fan of the KIKO range? Will you be picking anything up from this latest collection?
