Seeing a Bourjois lippie as one of my Budget Buy picks is no great surprise. Everytime I hear Bourjois is launching a new lip product, I’ll admit I let out a little squeal of excitement. Ever since I challenged myself to wearing a different lipstick everyday for a year (check out my #ALipADay here) the Bourjois lipsticks have been some of favourite budget buy lipsticks ever.
For a matte lipstick, you can’t beat the Rouge Velvet Editions. Easier to apply than Hourglass, easier to get hold of than Sephora’s wonderful versions, these are some of my favourite lippies. The three new colours I have constantly on rotation in my handbag are currently what you’ll find adorning my lips at all times. Don’t Pink of It is a beautiful pinky-nude that looks gorgeous with a smokey eye, So Hap’pink is a perfect rose with hint of red, while Beau Brun is a deeper reddish-brownish pink.
The doe-foot applicator makes precise application a breeze – no lipliner needed here, unless you particularly want it. Although these are super matte, they’re really comfortable and not at all drying to wear. If I remember, I’ll make sure to wear a really hydrating lip balm the night before, such as the Dr Lipp balm, but even if I forget, it’s not a problem.
My favourite way to wear these is layered up to contour the lips, so I’ll wear either So Hap’pink or Beau Brun all over the lips, with Don’t Pink of It just in the centre to give the illusion of a fuller lip!
