I may have a slight obsession with Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Bricks. Once big sweep across all the colours with a big fluffy brush and you have the perfect pick-me-up, come rain or shine. Take a smaller, more precise brush and a more directional approach to where you apply your brush and you’ve got an eye palette right there in your hands. I “may” have more of them than you see here, but they’re hard to resist as you walk past the Bobbi Brown counter…or is that just me?
I’d love to take credit for this amazing dupe from The Body Shop, but credit where credit’s due; it was actually my friend Adeela who handed me her Shimmer Waves palette in Blush Rose and told me that this had to feature as a dupe here on the blog. In terms of colours in the pan, it looks like it sits comfortably between the Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz (top left) and Rose (bottom right) Shimmer Bricks, but in fact, I’d say it’s closest to the Brightening Brick in Pink (bottom left). On the cheek though, it’s a different matter. They’re both as finely milled and easy to blend as each other. You’d be hard pressed to tell it apart from the Rose Shimmer Brick – it’s perhaps a slightly lighter pink and a tad more frosty, but if you keep away from the lightest shade at the bottom, I’d say it’s a pretty exact dupe on the skin. At less than half the price, if you’re looking for a quick perk-me-up, I know where I’d be putting my money this Spring.
