Radical Skincare Serum & SPF Duo – a Review

Radical Skincare Multi-Brightening Serum Skin Perfecting Screen SPF30

Have I mentioned in these parts that I tend to travel cabin luggage only most of the time? Not always my choice, I hasten to add! But there it is. So this current holiday – two weeks in Puerto Banus –  had me almost having conniptions when it came to packing my toiletries. I mean come on! Skincare, makeup, sun protection, all less than 100ml, slotted into a little plastic bag …what’s a girl to do?

Luckily, I had this fabulous little duo from Radical Skincare (a longtime skincare favourite of mine) that I’d just started trying out, so at only 15 ml and 40ml, they definitely made the grade as far as size. But did they make it as far as performance was concerned?

I’m happy to report that I’ve been using both the Multi Brightening Serum and the Skin Perfecting Screen SPF30 everyday for almost three weeks now and my skin feels literally amazing. The Multi Brightening Serum, (housed in Radical’s signature twist-up pump so no lids to lose!) contains vitamin C as the active brightening ingredient, so no aggressive bleachers like hyroquinone – it remains a gentle yet effective solution to minimise and prevent dark spots and hyper pigmentation.  Lightweight, milky-white and quite runny, it absorbs super fast without leaving a nasty film, perfectly prepping the skin for moisturiser.

The Skin Perfecting Screen SPF30 is a non-chemical broad spectrum mineral sunscreen, relying on zinc and titanium oxide for physical protection. At first glance I thought I might be left with a chalky white face, as so many non-chemical protectants tend to do on brown skin, but no! Once applied to the skin with fingers, it literally disappears, leaving the skin glowing, radiant and ready for the day. The fact that the formula contains diamond powder might have something to do with it, reflecting the light and giving the skin a beautiful radiance that has me leaving the house with no makeup and feeling confident that my skin looks healthy and even-toned. On days when I’ve forgone the moisturiser (it’s 37* out here) and just used the serum and SPF, my skin has still felt healthy, nourished and soft; possibly due to the new trylacel technology in the SPF.

Radical Skincare never fails to perform and this duo is no exception. Two more products to add into my ever-growing stable of skincare favourites…done!
