Oh my! It’s almost September! I can’t quite believe it…autumn is almost upon us and it’s time to get makeup appropriate. The easiest and fastest way to change up the face is a slick of something more autumnal on the lips. Time to start retiring the bright pinks and fuchsias and head towards the plums, berries and reds.
If it’s all too much of a shock for you, then perhaps a tinted lip balm is the way to segue yourself gently into the season? As a long-time fan of By Terry’s Baume de Rose you can’t even begin to imagine how excited I was to hear about the new tinted versions that are tempting me in Space NK right now, but I’ve been holding back until I really have an excuse. And what better reason than a change of season? Baume De Rose Nutri-Couleur, available in 6 colours, is a multi-tasking high performance lip balm that gives just the right level of sheer tint. But don’t worry; if you’re a fan of the original BdR, there’s still all the rose flower essential wax, shea butter, vitamin E and ceramides that you’ve grown to love.
On my pigmented lips, the browny-plummy shade Fig Fiction gives a my-lips-but-slightly-darker look but on less pigmented lips, you’ll get the full effect. If I want to amp up the effect, a quick slick of lipliner (I’m still loving MAC Lipliner in Plum) gives it a little extra definition.
Rosy Babe is a beautiful baby pink, Mandarina Pulp a sheer bright that is perfect for the trans-seasonal time we’re in, Cherry Bomb, my favourite, a fiery red/orange, Bloom Berry is a deep claret wine colour, Toffee Cream, another firm favourite, is a perfect creamy nude and of course, Fig Fiction, which you can see swatched above.
