Sometimes it seems that every day brings yet another new makeup brand to take your pennies, and sometimes, I’d have to agree with you. After a while they tend to blur into each other. BUT. Every so often comes along a make-up brand that is a game changer. And when it does, I literally can’t contain my excitement! Cue embarrassing squealing and an impatience to get my mitts on everything comparable only to a five year old on Christmas Day!
Surrat Beauty launched in Barneys in the States in October 2013 and is the number one trending beauty brand across the 12 stores. Launched last week in Liberty London, I was lucky enough to not only have a play with the range, but to meet Troy Surratt, the creator of the brand and have a mini-makeover by him too! And I am now a woman obsessed!
Each and every item from the range has been made with the utmost attention to detail – the pigments, the shades and the quality literally had me jumping up and down. Packaging is super-light (yet sturdy), the right size for the average female hand and so portable – and each palette is fully customisable, from eyeshadows to blushers to highlighters. I’m lusting after the coral bright blusher, the golden shimmer highlighter and just about every single eyeshadow.
Smokey eye lovers will be in seventh heaven with the Smokey Eye Batons. With a liner at one end and a co-ordinating spring-loaded eyeshdow at the other to blend, this is the day-to-evening eye made easy. Just a swipe of the intensely pigmented liner at the lash line, blended out with the shadow creates drama and definition. A swish of the Expressioniste Brow Pomade over the eyebrows gives you that Cara Delavigne look without any of the crispiness of traditional brow gels.
And can I just take a moment to tell you about the best eyelash curlers I’ve ever used? So good, they need to star in a separate post all of their own very soon. Same goes for the refillable liquid eyeliner…as I said in my Instagram post…some day, all liquid liners will be made this way! (By the way, if you’re not following me on Instagram yet, get on it! I post on there before things make their way over the blog, so be first in the know and follow me here).
Last but not least, lips at Surratt Beauty are something special. The Automatique Lip Crayons (shown here in Mahogany) are beyond pigmented, matte but moisturising, long on wear (we’re talking eight hours including eating and drinking) but light on the lips.
And the brushes? Coming in September, handmade in Japan, this is heaven on your face. Baited breath doesn’t even close to describe how I’m feeling.
And when you know Troy Surratt’s beauty heritage, none of it comes as any surprise. Three and a half years working with his mentor Kevin Aucoin, co-founder of Tarte Cosmetics, celebrity makeup artist for some of Hollywood’s most beautiful women…you couldn’t fabricate a beauty CV better than this.
Expect to see more (much more) from me about Surrat Beauty – it’s unashamedly my new obsession.
