Makeup to Work Out In

Makeup to Workout In

Ok, so this may sound like an odd thing to write about, but hear me out.

In my recent obsession with getting fit, strong and healthy, I’ve been upping the training by working out at a gym in Mayfair three times a week along with my regular workouts at my local Virgin Active. So, although I’m not normally one to wear makeup when working out (sweaty foundation and running mascara, anyone?), the Mayfair gym workouts involve a regular tube journey there and back. Now, I still don’t really want to be wearing any makeup while pushing those weights (and I’m talking serious poundage!), but on the other hand, one doesn’t really want to scare one’s fellow passengers with a totally naked face. So at the risk of sounding totally vain (oh, ok, that’s a losing battle!), here’s what making me look human en route.

Makeup To Workout

Skincare: Well, of course, that’s a given – a regimented regime = clear, even toned skin which means that I can go foundation free.

Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer: On a really good skin day, I’ll skip this step, and head straight on over to the next stage. Sunday Riley’s Effortless Breathable Tinted Breathable Primer (is that the longest name for a product in history?) just smoothes out the complexion, imparting glowing, super soft skin that looks fresh and dewy, even toned and bright, without really adding any coverage that’s going to slip off onto my towel as I wipe the sweat away (eeew, is that too much information for you?)

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place High Cover Concealer SPF35: As much as I’d like to not need a little pot of concelaer, with three kids, two cats and a late-night-loving husband, that’s not going to happen anytime soon. So a touch of Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Concealer in 4N Medium Deep, dabbed on with fingers for the most natural look, on only the darkest of circles under the eyes works like magic.

Bourjois 1 Second Volume Waterproof Mascara: A hint of definition is all it talks to look less like death warmed up, so a slick of mascara – waterproof, of course – is a daily staple.

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm: Call me old-fashioned, but for me, the gym is just not the place for lipstick. So it’s a slick of colourless lip balm – By Terry’s Baume de Rose when I want a little shine, Nuxe’s Reve de Miel for a more matte look, does the job.

And that’s it, no more, no less.
