Travel Diaries: The Pared-Down Makeup Kit Edit

Holiday Makeup Kit

So if you read yesterday’s post (if you didn’t, click here to catch up), then you’ll know that I brought a bucket load of makeup brushes with me on my ten-day trip to Spain. By now, you might be wondering what those brushes were used for? Makeup hoarder junkie as I am, I surpassed even myself with the scaled-down, edited version of slap I brought with me. Hardly anything, even if I say so myself!

Trish McEvoy’s Mini Makeup Planner was the basis on which it was all built. Two eyeshadows, one blush and a solid cream foundation (for nights out) in the flip open magnetic case, with support from Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Anti-Aging) to keep the eyeshade from slipping off in the heat. Origins Smarty Plants CC Cream SPF20 provided my daily skin coverage and protection, Trish McEvoy’s Instant Eye Lift (in shade 2) concealed the proof of any late nights and Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black (which is never far from me) along with Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliner in Bronze took turns to line the eyes. Bourjois’ 1 Seconde Volume Waterproof Mascara literally transformed my eyes on a daily basis. You can see more about why I love this here. And to frame the eyes to perfection, Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse in Rich Brown was just perfect for a natural look.

Face finishers were a no brainer; Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Powder was swept over the face with the Mac duo fibre brush I wrote about here to keep things matte when the temperature soared, while my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light was perfect for highlighting the cheekbones, collarbones and other bits when the occasion called. The new Liz Earle Radiant Glow Bronzer came along with me in case there was no sun, but the sun gods were with me, so I’ll be turning to this beautiful bronzer when I get home and the tan fades.

Lipstick was bright all the way. Revlon’s Super Lustrous in Fire & Ice, which you can see in action here and By Terry’s Rouge Terrybly in Hot Cranberry were the main culprits. When I needed to tone it down a little, my Lanolips Lip Ointment SPF15 in Rose was perfect while overnight moisturisation came courtesy of my DHC Lip Cream.
