Glamore. Just the very name conjures up a bygone era, when Hollywood heroines were literally demi-goddesses, film studios were made or broken in the wake of their fame, whims and fancies and ultra-feminine glamour was the name of the game.

Alex Box, the creative force behind Illamasqua, is a woman with a vision, and I for one wait with baited breath for each and every new collection offering from the brand – each one is more innovative, more boundary-pushing and more beguiling than the one before. The latest collection, (which launched on Thursday), is no exception. In a bold move, Illamasqua launches moisture rich lipsticks. Gasp! Yes, you read that right. In a step onwards from the usual matte lipsticks we’ve come to know and love from our beloved makeup maestros, Illamasqua has transferred the intense pigment long lasting formula to Glamore, a luxuriously hydrating lipstick that doesn’t compromise, be it in terms of pigment or wear-time (is that even a phrase?). Three very wearable shades kick off the new foray, with four more coming in the summer. Lustre is an eye-catching neon candy blue-based pink, Glissade is the perfect purple-based berry and very wearable, while Soaked is the perfect knock ’em dead orange-based red. I think I’ll be saving the brightness of Lustre for my Easter holiday on the beach, but Glissade and Soaked have already made it into the daily rotation.

And just when you thought you were done with glitter for nails, well, think again. The three new Limited Edition shades in the Shattered Stars collection are a grown-up glitter, combining a variety of particles – shiny and mattified larger “bits” (that’s the technical term, by the way!), all rooted in a finely milled powdery base make for a multidimensional, mesmerising must-have. One coat gives a pretty, lightweight finish. But go on in with the second coat and you’ve a colour-packed punch of vibrancy that is literally like an armour for your nails. Weak nailed girls listen up – this will strengthen your nails like no nail treatment ever will! Trilliant is a gorgeous, wearable nude with a punch, Fire Rose is a ravishingly hot pink that looks great on all skin tones and Marquise is a ruby orangey fiery red that’s going to look ah-mazing by the pool this Easter!

My faves of the bunch? If you’re a glitter shy gal, go for the Trilliant, the nude shade – an understated glitter that is quietly confident and versatile enough to be worn from the board room to party. As for me, well, decisiveness was never a virtue of mine. And as far as the lips go, well, you can hardly expect me to choose only one, given my well-documented penchant for the odd lippie or two!!!
