I haven’t really raved about Topshop makeup before on here before, but all that is about to change with these covetable, want-em-all new Gloss Inks. Five shades in the range (so far) and after a swatching frenzy in Selfridges recently, I definitely want them all!
After much oohing, ahhing and a (very long) process of reluctant elimination, I plumped for Smitten, a strong bold fuchsia pink that screams for attention and pared back, minimal makeup. I’ve been reaching for this as a perfect Spring time look and just can’t get enough of it! The other shade to make it to the cash till with me was Sugar Rush, a nude pink that’s perfect for pairing with a heavy smokey eye.
The formula ticks all the boxes for me: glossy yet these stick around for a good six hours on the lips (even loyal through a big fat Aubaine burger for lunch!) and moisturising yet intensely pigmented – the stain lasts for ages even after the gloss has faded. You can wear these as a light stain or build up the colour for a really show-stopping effect or wear them over a lipstick for a really intense lip. I’ve even brought out the mixologist in me and layered the two shaded together for a beautiful customised colour!
The other shades are all just as gorge. Cruel is a deep magenta colour, Sloe Gin a deep berry shade and Relentless, a very summery orangey coral. At only £8 each, they are giving my YSL Glossy Stains a run for their money and it’ll be no surprise when I head back to snap up the remaining three shades!
