Finally, it really feels like Spring has sprung. A gloriously sunny day, blue skies with perfectly formed fluffy white clouds … please can I ask for a never-ending encore?
So I felt it was only fitting that I start to wear some sunshine on my tips – here’s my Spring selection.
There’s nothing as polished as well groomed nails and there’s nothing like a nude nail to get that groomed, Park Avenue princess finish and these are the polishes that’ll get you there. Chanel’s Ballerina is just the perfect nail-perfecting nearly not-there creamy-pinkish-beige. Leighton Denny’s Mirage or Not is a very gentle café-au-lait beige while Deborah Lippmann’s Modern Love is a warmer, richer, almost pinkier version. And if you fancy a little subtle drama, Illamasqua’s glitter nude Trilliant from the Shattered Stars collection (launching 27th February, more on that tomorrow) is perfect to add that va-va-oom to your nude collection. Take it up a notch for of duty-wear with Fire Rose from the same collection – a very wearable glitter pink that’s almost mesmerising to look it.
If you’re soooo over nudes and want to make a real statement then have I got a selection lined up here for you! Leighton’s new International Collection provides a serious splash of colour, ranging from Bon Voyage, a juicy orange that’s not so bright you need shades, the lemon sherbet fizziness of Passport to Shine, an eye-catching silver in Pure Paradise that will glint beautifully in the sun (and is the perfect base for nail art), a shimmering haze of blue in Reach for the Sky and just the right shade of green in Glamazone. And for a little extra glitter, Deborah Lippmann’s Mermaid’s Dream (here) has got the aqua thing sewn up.
There’s always a place in my heart for the red nail, and this season I’ll be sporting Chanel’s Tapage – a beautiful rose red, super glossy and just one coat to get full coverage! And to up the ante, Illamasqua’s Marquise is a hot, fiery, orangey-red that’s literally mesmerising – you’ll be staring at your nails for hours!
The Dark One
The sun may make an appearance (or not) but there’s always room for a dark moody nail polish. My current favourite is Deborah Lippmann’s Dark Side of the Moon (can you tell I’ve been raiding Selfridges beauty hall!). It’s a deep purple that definitely needs two coats to get the intensity I want, and it’ll have people asking what you’re wearing , so be prepared for the extra attention!
Check back later this week for some drugstore glitters I’m trying out and let me know which colours you’ll be wearing this season?
