Originally, kajal or kohl was the only thing to use, but on a daily basis, this can get quite involved, not to mention messy, and good quality versions are hard to come buy. Liquid eyeliner is the saviour, but can be tricky for those without a steady hand. Key to getting it right is finding a short brush (less to wobble in the hand) and an intense black – if it’s not solid black on first application, you’ll find you’re going over the line to deepen the intensity, and therein lies the way to feathery eyeliner – not the look I’m hankering after.
If there’s one thing that sums up a classic Bollywood heroine, it’s the black eyeliner. Ok, so the pouting lips, the emphatic eyebrows and the lush hair are all a necessary part of the whole image, not to mention the perfect hourglass figure. But first and foremost, the eyes just have to be dramatic, intense and outlined to within an inch of their lives.
Rimmel’s Exagerate Eyeliner is pigmented enough to be blackest black as soon as it hits the skin, the short little brush makes wiggly lines a thing of the past and the very fine tip means a smooth and precise line every time. At around the £5 mark, it’s not going to break the bank but does what many higher priced black liquid liners do at a fraction of the cost.
Perfect for that doe-eyed look for your close-up. Light, camera, action!
