It’s no secret I love my high-end cosmetics. Plonk me in Selfridges Beauty Department and I’m the happiest girlie in town. Be it foundations, eyeshadows, lipsticks or even skincare, for some reason, my eye is always drawn to the high ticket items…much to the disapproval of my bank manager; it does so play havoc with the purse strings. So when I can get the effect I want with a fist full of high street hotties, you can bet I’m jumping up and down with glee.

This little lot is part old favourites, part new additions to the makeup roster and I can’t remember the last time I had so many comments on my make-up…. all positive, thank goodness!

Revlon Nearly Naked in Nutmeg (my perfect Winter shade, one step lighter than the Natural Tan shade I wear in the Summer months) is probably my favourite budget-friendly foundation. Applied with a Real Technique’s Buffing Brush, I defy anyone not to love the effect. Buildable coverage, glowing, radiant skin but no shiny-ness here – it’s that dewy, velvety texture that I love so much. Dark circles disguised with NARS Creamy Concealer in Biscuit (ok, ok, so that’s not a budget buy, but you try getting a good concealer on the high street for my skin shade – if you know of one, make sure to tell me in the comments below).

Super easy eyes using two shades from the new Bourjois Colour Edition 24 Hour Cream Eyeshadows. We are talking cream to powder eyeshadows that can be worn sheer, as I’ve done, or layered up for a more intense look. No creasing, no fading. Just super fast, super easy application with the fingers. I’ve literally swiped 03 Pétale de Glace over the upper eye lid and smooshed 05 Prune Nocturne into the outer corner and crease, with a hint of it under the lower lash line for extra definition. (A heads up: this is a fab dupe for a high end cream eyeshadow – can you guess which one? Stay tuned for a dupe post this week!) Lashes got lush with Sleek’s new Lethal Length Mascara. You’ve just got a love a brush that literally hugs each and every lash, coating them in the blackest of blacks for a really intense eye.

More newness from Bourjois for the lips. I was already in love with their Color Boost Lip Crayons (HERE) launched earlier this year, so Plum Russian, the perfect lip-smacking Autumnal shade, was welcome news. Swiped over the lips for a sheer look, intensifying as you build it up, I like to wear this as an almost stained glass look. Sheer-ish over the whole lips and slightly darker around the lipline. Gorgeous. And to save time, I used it to add a little colour to the cheeks!

A quick dusting of the the Revlon Nearly Naked Powder in 040 Medium/Deep to finish, and I was good to go.

Cheap as chips, but giving my luxury brands a serious run for their money. This one is going to run and run.
