Fans of my SOS Hair in Distress features that make an occasional appearance here on Beauty Passionista may remember the series and be wondering where it’s gone.  I say “may” remember as it’s been a while since “SOS” was up. And there’s a reason why.

Around four months ago, I started taking a hair health supplement, originally recommended to me ages ago by my dear mother, no less, that she has seen written about in a magazine. She was so impressed by what she read, she had torn out the page and posted it to me. But of course, in true mother/daughter style, I ignored her advice. Earlier this year, when in Holland & Barrett and trying to buy a hair supplement, Viviscal was recommended to my by the sales advisor so, of course, I went ahead and bought it.

Serves me right; mother knows best.

I’ve now been taking Viviscal twice a day since January, and it’s made such a difference to my hair, seven of my friends are now taking it (and my mother and sister to boot!). There’s noticeably less hair loss in the shower and in my hairbrush which is immensely satisfying. Lots of new hair is growing through too – so difficult when it comes to styling these little wispy hairs, but I’ll take that any day if it means I have more hair on my head!

I recently tried the Viviscal Shampoo* and Conditioner*, and have to say I was impressed. While not treatments in their own right, the Shampoo is very gentle on the hair and the Conditioner is ultra-moisturising yet super lightweight, so it doesn’t weigh the hair down. A little DIY wash and blow dry and I was literally blown away by the condition of my hair and the volume I was able to achieve, without any extra volumising products.

My new favourite shampoo and conditioner? Maybe, just maybe….
