The Skin: Pai’s Liquid Gold in a Bottle

Delicate skin requires the delicate touch. Recently, I’ve been feeling more than a little delicate, and I guess it shows on the skin. Actually, no guessing needed, it’s plain and clear for all to see. Nothing a little retail therapy hasn’t helped to ease, but the fact remains my skin needs a little TLC all of its own. A couple of days ago, I was telling you about my skincare heroes when I’m after some TLC, going natural and gentle, in more ways than one….. Harsh words and harsh products all take a toll on the skin, so I’ve even been reducing the time spent with toxic people (!) and searching out skincare products that are gentle yet effective.

When this little golden bottle from Pai came accross my desk, it was a no brainer. Pai, for those not familiar with this brand, came about when the founder, Sarah Brown, couldn’t find a product that could deal with her own skin allergies. So sensitive skin is in for a real treat when there’s a Pai treatment around. Pai’s new skin treat, the Echium & Amaranth Age Confidence Facial Oil is sublime to use and the added bonus? I can see the effects almost overnight! Now that’s not something I could say about 99% of the products I try. This glorious goodie is a rich blend of Echium and Amaranth oils, along with some other favourites which I’ll come to in a bit, but first, let’s hear it for the stars of this show. Echium is the richest known plant source of GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid) and Stearidonic Acid, both fabulous sources of Omegas 3 & 6. You might be taking your EFA’s religiously, but putting them directly onto the skin accelerates skin cell regeneration, repairs the skin at cellular lever and calms sensitive skin with its anti-inflammatory properties. Amaranth is a natural plant source of the effective moisturiser Squalene (love that name!) which locks in moisture, aids elasticity and suppleness and protects the skin against the ageing effects of free radical damage.

Amongst the other oils (including Argan, Kukui and Macademia), there’s also the unusual Guggul Oil. Long been fêted for its positive health properties when taken internally, when applied externally it helps increase skin metabolism, resulting in a brighter, revitalised complexion. It also manages to inhibit the enzyme that breaks down collagen, so that with regular use, you are left with plumper, firmer smoother skin.

Sounds like so much science, but it’s good to know that this golden oil is certified organic, cruelty free and suitable for vegans

I’ve only been using this for a week, but I can honestly say that my skin looks brighter, smoother, more radiant, plumper and firmer. I know that might sound like I’m just repeating what I’ve already written, but these really are the changes I can see and feel. And it’s not just me. Even Mr H, he-who-never-notices-anything, has been commenting on my skin and complexion since I’ve been massaging it into the skin, twice a day. I’ve seen him eyeing it up for himself….. not a chance!

I’ve surreptitiously been dabbing a little bit extra on that pesky dermatitis under my eye, and it’s working wonders on dealing with the extremely dry skin, banishing the flakies quite nicely.

Did I just strike liquid gold in a bottle? I think so.

Sounds like you’re going to have to get Mr. H his own bottle! I love natural oils, they really do seem to work miracles compared to the chemical-laden products!
