The Diet: Saints & Slimmers – The Verdict #FitBod


Yippeeee! I’ve done it! I’ve stuck to the diet for two weeks, managed not to cheat by sneakily eating all sorts in between the meals that were delivered to me and, in the words of the song, “I’m feeling good”!!!


Avid readers of the blog (is that you?) will have seen a few posts about the Saints & Slimmers diet that I’ve been following. Without repeating myself (you can read all about by clicking on this link here), Saints & Slimmers is a very affordable delivery-diet that is immensely customisable to however you want to structure your diet. If you all you want from them is a calorie-controlled meal such as Chilli con Carne, Chicken Chicken Tikka Masala or even Spaghetti Bolognese for a filling dinner, that’s perfectly fine. And if you want all
your daily food intake sent to you, then that’s absolutely fine too. 

Breakfast!
An average day on the diet for me was something like this: breakfast was a milkshake (perfect to have either at home or on the move), lunch a meal replacement bar and a piece of fruit (again, perfect either at home or when I was out and about), and then a proper meal in the evening, with some extra veg thrown in for good health.  By using a fabulous app on my iPhone called MyFitnessPal, I could track how many calories I’d eaten in a day and add fruit, veg or other snacks accordingly, all to keep within my daily calorie target. 

Lunch 🙂
Eating out wasn’t a problem; by using the app, I found choices on restaurant menus that kept me within the calorie count too. I even managed to have lunch in Nandos one day, Gourmet Burger Kitchen another, and even lunch at The Savoy!!! I’d then “reign it in’ in the evening by having a meal replacement bar for dinner – not as awful as it might sound, I rather enjoyed the freedom I had by moving my meals around.

Did it work? Obviously that’s the point of going on a diet and what you all want to know. Well, I managed to exercise an average of four times a week (which is normal for me) and kept to the diet for the two weeks trial. My workouts weren’t compromised, there was no lack of energy or “fuel” and the best part? I lost two kilos!!! Yay!!! Without hunger, without feeling deprived (actually, I felt rather indulged, it’s been a while since I ate carbs such as rice and pasta so freely!) and without having to feel unhealthy. Making sure I ate around 200 calories worth of fruit and veg (my choice which ones) was part of the plan.

What this diet really helped me to do was take a long hard look at my portion sizes – something I’ve never been good at, I love my food too much. I really did keep to around 1000 calories a day (perfect for me to lose weight, 1200 is about right for me to maintain my weight) and didn’t find it hard to workout or live my daily, very busy, life.

Dinner:))
I’d definitely recommend Saints & Slimmers to anyone and I’d do this again as everything was tasty – even the milkshakes were much thicker and more flavoursome than I’d expected, and the evening meals were fab with some chilli added (I’m a chilli fiend!). I just love the idea of ordering lots of the evening meals, so that I don’t have to worry about overeating at dinner yet still feel like I’m eating a proper meal, not a sad piece of lettuce and some dry grilled chicken – that’s enough to put anyone off a diet!

    Thanks for the review. I have always been intrigued by the idea of being on a program like this for convenience, but since I cook everything myself it would be a big step up in price. But I love the idea of the iphone App. I hope it is available for Android.
