I’ve long been (quite rightly) accused of not wearing enough colour. Beige, brown, black and all manner of neutrals are my first choice. Although I hanker after colour, for one reason or another, it doesn’t often make it’s way onto my face, except for the lips, of course. But all that may well be about to change.
Last week I went along to take a peek at the new line coming from Stila this summer and I’ve been enthused to wear more colour all over again. Fresh, bright, youthful and full of colour, the SS13 Festival of Colour Collection makes wearing neutral seem boring, staid and so ‘yesterday’.
So here’s a little Face of The Day put together for you using only colour from the new collection. The purple eye won so many compliments when I wore it out during the day, although I must admit it took me quite a while to get used to wearing such a bold look on the eye. The beautiful mint-green Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner eyeliner was tricky to apply, and on my skin tone was not as bright as it promised to be, but it was a welcome change from the usual brown black or navy liners that I use – I wafted a little of it under the eye which worked perfectly as a demure foil to the shocking purple on the upper lid.
The Countless Color Pigment Eyeshadow is very clever – three perfectly coordinated shades of the same colour that blend beautifully to create a very quick yet dramatic eye. I used the middle shade all over the lid, the darkest in the outer-V and in the other crease, and the lightest under the brow and inner corner.
And the After Glow Lip Pencil in Electric Pink – woah! Not only is it a beautiful bright summer pink, it’s luminous under neon light! Can’t say I can see myself under neon lighting anytime soon, but hey, it’s fun nonetheless! My other fave from the collection was the Bronzing BB Cream with SPF30 – I’ll review this as soon as I can get my hands on one!
What’s your summertime look going to be?
