There are times when you search and search for the perfect lipstick, blusher, concealer… insert your own holy grail here. And there are times when fate just brings that perfect, life-changing little beauty right into your lap, without you even realising that you were in dire need of it in the first place.
I’ve been meaning to write about this god-send for the longest time but for some reason it hasn’t happened, until now.
Yesterday’s #ALipADay choice was a beautiful shimmering pinkish-nude by Provoke Cosmetics and I wanted to really show it off to its best, so I decided to rustle up a very simple smokey eye, even though it was only 9.30 in the morning. As I had to get ready and out the house fast, I used only three products to achieve this look, but the undoubted star of the show was the fabulous brown Daniel Sandler Matte Eyeshadow 238 that went all over the eyelid, with a double helping of it on the outer corner and in the crease. I’ve had so many lovely comments about the eye make-up in this photo that it seemed that now is the right time to bring it to your attention.
I’m a little obsessed with this shade. It’s my go-to eyeshadow for an easy day look, with a sheer wash of colour over the whole lid (blended with a big fluffy brush). For an undefined-defined look, I use it with a fine eyeliner brush to gently outline the eye. And I’ll use it to amp up an evening look for a dusky smokey eye. In fact, I think I probably use this shade around four days a week, at least. I’m dreading it running out, I hope Daniel never stops making this shade.
And the best bit is, I didn’t even spend half my lifetime looking for this love of mine. A while ago, I was invited by my lovely friend Ferah to a ladies lunch at Aspinalls Club at which Daniel was talking about make-up. A cute little goodie bag of some Daniel Sandler treasures was waiting for each of us as we left, and this eyeshadow was hiding at the bottom of the bag, just waiting to change my life.
The other can’t-live-without in this eye make-up is the fabulous Plume Liner by Lancôme. It’s firmly earned it’s place in my no-makeup/makeup collection because I can get a line so fine and close the lash base that it looks like I’ve just got really lush thick lashes. I’ll be writing a separate post on this one, as I really don’t want the eyeshadow to share top billing here! And you can read all about one of my favourite volumising, thickening mascaras by Clinique in this blog post HERE.
