As much as I’d like to wear false lashes, I’m beyond hopeless at applying them.  By the time I’ve got one right, I can never get the second one on properly, so, after much readjusting, watery eyes, make-up running down my cheek etc, I pretty much give up, take off the one I managed to put on, and start all over again with the make-up, which by now is ruined from all the prodding and tears.

More bother than it’s worth for me, so I don’t really bother, especially for daytime.

Which is why utterly fabulous mascara is vital.  Two coats of a great mascara and I don’t even need to think twice about cracking open the falsies.

I’m currently loving the Eyeko Black Magic Drama & Curl Mascara, which is proving to be a bit of a must-have since I first tried it recently. It really dramatises my lashes – it says it’s “designed for after-hours seduction” but I don’t let a little thing like that bother me! Oh no! I’m using it on a daily basis to give me great lashes throughout the day.  It thickens, curls (check out the fabulous curled brush that really helps to “push” the lashes into a curl) and volumises.  The Shea Butter in the formulation also allows the lashes to remain flexible to the touch – I hate a rock hard, crunchy lash, don’t you?

It comes with a great little plectrum-shaped eye shield (which I’m guarding with my life away from The Boy who is DESPERATE to use it with his guitars).
You use it to stop the intense black mascara from ruining your carefully applied eyeshadow – I’ve tried to show you here, but obviously I’m not wearing any make-up – eyeshadow, concealer, foundation or otherwise!

Have you tried any of the Eyeko Mascaras?

      Hi Anon.

      Good question!

It’s available at Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Space NK and Sephora, if you’re lucky enough to have one of those near you! You can also buy it online at if that’s easier for you?

Good luck in getting one for yourself 🙂

Love the GIF! Now, I want it because of the eye shield!

Ahh, thank you Olivia! Glad you like it 🙂
I really should use the shield more often, it makes such a difference
