Zoya Nails – Purples on Parade NOTD

I’m so overdue a proper nails post, so finally, here it is.

I’ve heard so much about Zoya Nail Varnishes, all good things, I might add, but for some unknown reason, I’ve never tried them myself.  All that changed this week when I tried out three shades from the new season’s range.

Katherine

First off, I tried the jelly formulation in Katherine from the Gloss Collection.  Now, let me be honest and say I was very apprehensive about this one, as I’m not a big fan of jelly or semi-sheer varnishes.  Call me weird, but I don’t really like being able to see the nail line (where the pink part of the nail ends and the white part begins). So I’d find myself applying coat after coat, which then never dries, and I end up taking the whole lot off.

This one, however, is buildable, and in just two coats, gave such depth of colour and coverage that it’s become a firm favourite.  I’ve shown you loads of photos so that you can see how it looks in different lights.  It’s a great autumnal colour, a brown-ish purple that is very wearable and a great staple shade.

Monica

Monica from the Designer Collection is a classic deep mulberry cream shade, rather like a personal fave of mine, OPI’s Lincoln Park at Midnight. Again, two coats gave a perfect deep black-puple that is so in keeping with the season’s luxe-goth trend.

Daul

And finally, from the Diva Collection, I tried the glorious Daul.  This is not so much a glitter, more a mesmerising metallic shimmering sparkle that throws out all manner of purple, lilac, violet and golden tones.  I totally love this, especially as an accent over Monica – what do you think?

Monica with Daul on the tips

Nail art (even tips) isn’t something I’m any good at, but I think I might have a go at some more 🙂

All three shades, even though they are all such different formulations, applied perfectly, with fabulous coverage with even just one coat (in the case of Monica and Daul; Katherine needed two coats to get the depth of colour).  They all self-correct and the brush is perfect to avoid lots of messy mistakes.

UPDATE: I’m writing this 4 days after applying the nail varnish and I’m so excited to report that there’s been no chipping and even more importantly, no tip wear.  Love you, Zoya!

Have you tried Zoya? Any other shades you think I should get hold of?

Check out Faye – if Daul is a luxe-goth, then Faye is Daul’s perkiGoth sibling 🙂

You might also like Yasmeen (concord grape, metallic) and Anastasia (red-plum, microglitter)

Aw, thank you, Martha! This is the first time I’ve tried Zoya, and I’m seriously impressed by how long wearing it is! Hope you like them as much as I do 🙂
