Very Estée…. Very Excited !

The first present I received from my mother-in-law was a beautiful bottle of perfume.  At the time, I was merely engaged, not yet married, to her darling son, so technically it was a beautiful bottle of perfume from my mother-in-law-to-be, but that’s mere semantics now.

The point is, the perfume she gave me was Estée.  Now,  I’d heard of the other Estee Lauder perfumes like Beautiful, Precious, even White Linen (memories of my English teacher at school come flooding back whenever I smell that one), but I’d never heard of that particular perfume, Estée.  I’ll admit I wasn’t hugely excited at receiving a perfume I’d never heard of, especially as there were so many out there that I was desperate to try.

But that all changed when I opened the beautiful cut-glass bottle and ventured my first ever experience of Estée. Just one little spray of it and I felt all grown-up and sophisticated.  This was definitely a fragrance for women, girls need not apply.

So when I received the news today about the new fragrance from Lauder, called Very Estée, I was, of course, Very Excited 🙂  I can’t wait to try it out.  Where Estée is predominantly floral, Very Estée takes that base and combines with woody musk, taking this right bang into the modern women’s fragrance territory.  Cedar wood, cashmere wood and sandalwood are blended with musk for a senuous bottom note that lingers on the skin, says Estee Lauder.  The bottle is also much more contemporary in it’s shape and clean lines.

I can’t wait to try it out for myself when it launches in Harrods in October (and nationwide in November) to see how it compares to the original.

Oh, what a shame! Which one do you find sickly? The new fragrance or my old classic?
