With the Olympics literally only hours away, it’s time to get all patriotic again.  It’s inevitable, in my case anyway.  Although my father only came over to this country in 1959 (and my mother in 1967 when she married him) my father brought us up to be all “proud to be British” and used to make us stand up every Christmas Day when the national anthem was played before the Queen’s Christmas Day Speech.  Fond memories of the Silver Jubilee celebrations – street parties, cakes, trestle tables, party games, etc. only served to add to the overall emotions.

So I’ve come over all patriotic with all the bunting, the Victoria Sponge (and mini ones made by my fellow blogger, the very unfairly gorgeous Rose) and Union Jack flags everywhere.

I’m even considering buying a pair of non-designer shoes (shock, horror!) and you might too, when you see these babies by Chockers.  Super high heeled, platformed and lots of sparkly bling.  What’s not to love? (Well, ok, perhaps they are a bit too TOWIE for me, but you have to admit, they are pretty funky!)

I’m completely using this little beauty wherever I go, and especially on holiday to make sure everyone knows where my allegiances lie.  You can never go wrong with Vaseline and I’d certainly never go away on holiday without it, so this gorgeous little case is the perfect travel companion, complete with a very useful mirror.  And at only £3.99, it looks a lot more expensive than it is, don’t you think?

Has the Olympics got your patriotic alter ego all a-fluster? Will you be buying any red, white and blue?

Oh, here’s a little video I took today of the Olympic Torch as it passed my area – so glad the holiday was delayed otherwise I wouldn’t have able to see this 🙂
