Nailtiques is well known to nail aficionados for proven, effective and hard-working nail formulations that can give you the healthy, strong talons that you dream of. A friend of mine using the treatments even had problems playing her weekly netball games as her nails grew too long for safety!
But did you know that Nailtiques also do colour varnishes? No, I didn’t either. And neither did my manicurist, until I showed her mine. Why does noone know about it?
Well, all that has changed for me now. I am in love with this colour – it’s called Shanghai – perfect for this week while we celebrate Chinese New Year, don’t you think?
It’s a coral red, the perfect mix of red and orange, with a definite hint of pink thrown in for good measure.
I love the colour so much, I asked my manicurist to use it on my toes too. She couldn’t help but comment on the excellent quality of the brush – she loved it! And she’s a woman who KNOWS varnishes. I mean, REALLY KNOWS.
I’ve used the protein formulas before and the good news is that these colour varnishes (available in 16 shades) are infused with the same proteins, so you’re treating your nails at the same time as wearing gorgeous, vibrant colour. And if your nails are really in need of some TLC, the protein formulas will penetrate through to the nails when worn over the top.
So you get a double whammy of protein – perfect.
I used a coat of protein Formula 1 as a base coat, two coats of Shanghai and then another coat of Formula 1 as a top coat.
I would say that the colour varnishes seem more “runny” than other brands I use, but that didn’t affect the colour pay-off at all, although I did feel I had to wait longer between coats for each layer to dry.
Can’t wait to try the other two shades I have, Milan – a deep burgandy- and San Tropez, a baby-pink nude.
