NOTD – OPI Step Right Up!

I can be a hard woman to please when it comes to nude nail varnish (and nude lipstick too, for that matter).

I just can’t seem to find the perfect colourless-pink that is opaque, but not too much so…. Yes, I know I’m being extraordinarily contradictory, but maybe that’s why I still haven’t found the perfect nude?
The effect I’m trying to achieve is the look of bare false nails, without colour on them, just after they have been attached, buffed and filed.  Now, I’m very lucky to have good natural nails so I don’t need to have falsies, but for some inexplicable reason, that’s the look I hanker after.
The one I tried here was OPI’s Step Right Up from the Femme de Cirque Collection, hailed as I pink nude.

I’ve actually gone for three coats here as I wanted to see what the colour looked like when it went completely opaque, but I think maybe next time I’ll just go for two.  Three coats always takes ages to dry, even with my rapid dry top coat, and there’s always the potential peril of the air bubble (middle finger – did you spot it?)

It is a beautiful light milky pink, the most opaque of the three shades in the collection and one which I know I will wear again.  It is an easy colour to wear, will go with everything, and gives a lovely clean finish when you just don’t have time to go for a full-on French manicure.

Did you like this colour?
